Square Enix's Murdered: Soul Suspect is a murder mystery with a twist. Throughout the course of the game, players will have to solve their own murder.
The main character is Ronan O'Connor, a detective with a less-than-clean slate. The game opens with him being killed on the streets of Salem by a mysterious attacker. He awakens to find himself a ghost stuck in limbo. He won't be able to leave this purgatory, called Dusk, until his killer is brought to justice.
Being dead and all, Ronan must conduct his investigation in an unusual way. He'll speak with other ghosts to find more information. He can also influence the thoughts and behavior of living inhabitants in some way. There's also some combat mixed in as well; apparently Salem is crawling with demonic spirits that Ronan will have to fend off.
There aren't enough quality investigation games out there so I'm pulling for Murdered. Also, it would prove my theory that games with dead protagonists are always fun. Examples of this theory in action include The World Ends With You, Planescape: Torment and Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. It's a very unscientific theory but maybe Murdered can give it a bit more credibility.
Murdered: Soul Suspect is in development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The end of the trailer indicates that we'll hear more about it at E3.
