My Ex-Boyfriend The Space Tyrant Brings Gay Adventure To Steam Greenlight
As many commenters have already stated on the Steam Greenlight page, Up Media has some super-mega big balls to upload a game like this to the general gaming audience...but they did it, and they did it proudly. My Ex-Boyfriend The Space Tyrant is a gay-themed point-and-click game, made in a similar vein to the classic Sierra-style adventures...and it's causing quite the stir.
Now this isn't one of those subtle “Is he gay or...?” kind of gay games, it's the whole short-shorts, speedo-wearing, leather boots touting, two-dudes-kissing-on-a-beach affair. It's all out and it's proud.
The game itself is sort of if Leisure Suit Larry and Roger Wilco got together and batted for the other team and then they had a new-generation offspring. My Ex-Boyfriend The Space Tyrant aims to join sexual humor with sci-fi comedy in a point-and-click environment.
The art is surprisingly good and seems reminiscent of Pendulo Studios' aesthetic approach to game design, and the humor seems to be there in spades. A lot of gamers on the Greenlight page, however, are reluctant to vote for the game because they're not gay and feel conflicted about the game's presence, one however stated that...
There's no doubt about it, this game will definitely get talked about one way or another if it catches the attention of more websites. As it stands, it seems like a complete toss-up as to whether the game will get Greenlit or not. As one commenter pointed out, I think the community reaction to this game being plastered up on the front of the Steam Store would be a sight worth paying to see.
