Need For Speed: The Run Announced With Blockbuster Debut Trailer

Apparently the new thing in gaming is to have set pieces that look like they were borrowed from a Justin Lin or Michael Bay movie set and then placed within the 3D realm of video games just to have them blow up at some point. EA’s newest game in the long running Need for Speed franchise seems to promise that gamers will be in for the ride of their life, complete with close-calls with a train, mountain explosions, avalanches, helicopter chases and near misses with civilian traffic.
As you can see from the main image, there’s even a fake Angelina Jolie/Megan Fox-wannabe to accompany the main character as he travels cross country in illegal underground racing. Thankfully the hero doesn't look like Shia Labeof. Still, if it’s all sounding too cliché and been-there-done-that to you, think again.
Need for Speed: The Run will be running on the same engine as Battlefield 3. If your eyes lit up then you’re not alone. The game will introduce gamers to the high stakes world of cross-country racing with all new, enhanced vehicle physics, AI and car chases that you thought was only doable on the big screen with Vin Diesel behind the wheel.
Jason DeLong, Executive Producer at EA commented in the press release, saying...
“We think that Need for Speed The Run is going to surprise people with its intense, thrilling story and big action feel. But the game would be nothing without hot cars and crazy-fast chases. So that is what we’re delivering -- explosive racing that will have players flirting with disaster at 200-miles an hour.”
I kind of like out-running cops in C-class, economy style vehicle turned uber-tuned street racer…we just don’t seem to get enough of those. Anyway, Need for Speed: The Run is set for release on November 15th of this year for the Xbox 360, PS3, iOS, 3DS and Wii.
