Nintendo Weekly Update Boasts More Mega Man
It’s mostly crickets at Camp Nintendo this week, with only a pair of new Virtual Console games coming to the Wii U, along with a handful of sales and smaller releases for the Big N’s home and portable consoles. But, hey, at least Mega Man makes another appearance!
Throughout August, Nintendo and Capcom have teamed up to release one new Mega Man game per week on the Wii U. This week’s addition to the lineup is one of the lesser known spin-off titles, Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge.
“Play as characters from the Mega Man Battle Network universe and help them win the Battle Chip Grand Prix,” reads the release announcement from Nintendo. “Strategize Battle Chips that activate attacks, healing or specialized moves on a grid called a Program Deck, and defeat your opponents to knock them out of the tournament.”
Sounds like some sweet, sweet SRPG goodness to me, and it can be yours this week only on the Wii U. That blast from the past will be joined by a pair of brawling brothers, too, as Double Dragon II: The Revenge kicks its way onto the Wii U Virtual Console. Jimmy Lee and Billy are back and ready for battle, this time looking to avenge the loss of their lady fair in an effort to defeat the Shadow Warriors.
If neither of those games catches your fancy, then perhaps you’ll find something off of the beaten path with a few eShop titles for both the Wii U and 3DS. The Wii U crowd can this week get their hands on GAIABREAKER, Soon Shine and XType Plus while those of you gaming on the go will have the opportunity to pick up Gothic Masquerade or Amida’s Path. There’s also a demo for Cooking Mama 5: Bon Apetiti! for the 3DS, if you’re looking to try before you buy.
A pair of equestrian games will also see a permanent discount on the 3DS this week, with Riding Stables 3D and My Riding Stables 3D: Jumping for the Team both being reduced down to $15.99. If you like horses but are terrified of the real thing, then you can consider these games a light doe of immersion therapy…Or something like that. I’m not a doctor. I’m just making things up at this point.
Finally, there are sales, sales, sales on Nintendo platforms this week. If you’re gaming on the Wii U, then you can enjoy Gravity Badgers, Hello Kitty Kruisers and Scram Kitty and His Buddy on Rails, as well as the non-animalistically titled ZaciSa’s Last Stand at discounts of up to 50 percent off. That's definitely a good deal for gamers looking to get in on the sales action.
