Orcs Must Die! 2 Gets Fire & Water DLC
Orcs Must Die! 2 is primed to be infused with “Fire and Water,” its first booster pack that offers a burningly aquatic spin on the dungeon defense action game. Here's hoping the “Earth, Wind and Heart” pack is coming down the pipeline to allow War Mages everywhere the ability to call on the assistance of Captain Planet.
Horribly lame jokes about 1990's cartoons aside, Fire and Water actually sounds like a pretty sweet addition to the ongoing battle with medieval creepy-crawlies. It hits Steam on Aug. 29 for $4.99, adding extra levels, monsters and additional objectives to the co-op trap-laying mayhem. We're talking three new levels, three new Endless Mode conversions, three new traps and a new Bonus Skull Definition that rewards players for making it through a level without using traps.
The new levels feature Fire Lords, Fire Elementals, Water Lords and Water Elementals. The fire lords break into Firelings when destroyed, tiny fire monsters that will continue to hunt the player down. Water Lords turn into puddles when they die but, if a Waterling happens upon a puddle, it reanimates as a new Waterlord. I call shenanigans.
But you're probably more interested in those new traps, huh? The first is the Web Spinner which, as its name suggests, sprouts a web perfect for capturing wandering monsters. The Ceiling Darts trap fires darts...from the ceiling. Finally, the Floor Portal is a particularly nasty little device that transports anyone foolish enough to step on it back to the beginning of your level. If you couldn't kill them the first time through, why not give it another go?
So get plenty of sleep these next couple of days because, come Wednesday, you're going to be addicted to Orcs Must Die! 2 all over again.
