Origin Finally Launches On Mac
Hey, all of you gamers on Mac! Guess what? You can finally take advantage of EA's online games portal, Origin, as the service officially launches for your gaming rig of choice.
Michael Blank made the announcement official over on the EA Blog, proudly proclaiming that “Origin for Mac is here!” According to Blank, Mac users can now enjoy “many of the same features” available for Origin on PC, such as cloud storage, friends lists, etc.
“One new feature will be of particular interest for gamers who play on both PC and Mac machines: dual-platform play,” Blank continued. “For select EA games (that are available on both PC and Mac), you can buy a title once on Origin and, when you log into Origin on either Mac or PC, that same game will appear in your newly unified My Games library.”
Actually, that's a pretty fantastic little feature right there. I don't know many folks who rock both a PC and a Mac, but I'm sure the ability to play your games on both devices comes as a welcome surprise.
Now, onto the goods. The Mac catalog of Origin titles includes games from EA, obviously, as well as partners like Warner Brothers and Sega. The Mac collection includes the likes of Dragon Age 2, Batman: Arkham City and The Sims 3. Speaking of that last game mentioned, EA is having a “Simtastic 13th Anniversary Sale” during the Origin Mac launch, offering The Sims 3 for the discounted price of $10 for a limited time.
So, enough of that jibba-jabba. It's time to play more games on your Mac. Head on over to the Origin download page to make it so.
