PlayStation Network Holiday Sales Extended Due To Hack
For those of you who happened to get a shiny new PlayStation console for Christmas but feared that, thanks to network outages, you would be unable to take advantage of holiday sales, you can rest a little bit easier now. Sony has announced that it will be extending its recent seasonal and Flash Sale, giving everybody a chance to pick up some games, movies and television shows on the cheap.
The holidays are always a great time for buying digital games because seasonal sales typically mean that titles new and old will be receiving some sort of a discount. Unfortunately, last week's DDoS attack on the PlayStation Network meant that many gamers—those who already owned PlayStation consoles and those who unwrapped them for the holidays—were left out in the cold. Without the ability to connect to the network, there was no way to actually take advantage of said discounts directly from your console of choice.
Thankfully, Sony has decided to keep the red price tags on items all over the store for a bit longer than originally planned and, as stated in a recent PlayStation Blog post, gamers will be able to enjoy extended Flash Sale and Holiday Sale hours. Given the fact that this is a combination of two sales, there's a very large amount of content for you to choose from. That being the case, we'll mention a few of the items here to give you an idea of what's in store (get it?!), but your best bet is simply to head on over to that original PS Blog post and peruse the extensive lineup for yourself.
For those who are curious, the Flash Sale will now run until 12 p.m. Pacific Time on Dec. 31, with the Holiday Sale stretching all of the way until 12 p.m. Pacific Time on Jan. 6. That doesn't leave you a whole lot of time on the appropriately named Flash Sale, so you might want to get your finances in order and make any purchasing decisions on the double.
For starters, the Flash Sale is offering up games like Destiny, on either console, for just $44.99. you could also grab Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel for just $34.79 or the super underrated Darksiders II Ultimate Edition for 15 bucks. Dragon Age: Inquisition has also been marked down to just $38.99, with The Evil Within going for $30 on the nose.
As for the holiday sale, you can grab Battlefield 4 for just $13 on the PS4 or $9 on the PS3, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for just $6.80, or Grand Theft Auto V with the Great White Shark Card for only $28.00. This sale also includes movies like 21 Jump Street and Godzilla, as well as various television shows such as American Horror Story, Family Guy and Sons of Anarchy.
