PlayStation Plus Adds Puppeteer, Surge Deluxe Today
A pair of new games enter the Instant Game Collection lineup as part of the weekly PlayStation Plus update, including the whimsical Puppeteer for the PlayStation 3 and the puzzle game, Surge Deluxe for the PlayStation Vita.
Now, we know what you’re thinking: Where are the rad sales that have been present in pretty much every Plus update since the dawn of 2014? Well, it turns out you can’t convince developers to offer discount on their game every week of the year so, other than those two new games at no additional cost to your monthly/annual Plus subscription, that’s going to just about do it for this week’s content update.
But who can complain about a lack of sales when a pair of new games are being dished out in one week? This week’s lineup, which will go live as soon as the PlayStation Network update launches later this very afternoon, kicks off with the magical platforming goodness of Puppeteer, a game that was tragically overlooked by many when it released last year and will be given a second opportunity to shine now that it has been added to the IGC.
“One dark moonlit night, a young boy named Kutaro was carried away by the maleficent Moon Bear King to a black castle where the unlucky lad was transformed into a puppet,” reads the game’s description on the PlayStation Blog. “Kutaro displeased the terrible tyrant, who devoured the boy’s wooden head and cast away his body.”
That would be game over for many would-be heroes, but not so for Kutaro. Instead of being all sad that his head was devoured by a mythological moon creature, this boy wonder decided to start strapping other heads to his incomplete body in order to gain new abilities and go after the Moon Bear King himself. Along with a bunch of magical domes, you’ll have a special pair of scissors at your disposal, perfect for cutting lunar baddies down to size.
Also arriving via Plus this week is the PlayStation Vita game, Surge Deluxe. In this game, your job is to create an infinite amount of clean power for humanity’s consumption while clearing away harmful by-product materials and keeping an eye on pressure gauges. Basically, you’ll clear away the nasties by creating an electrical link between two like-colored blocks. As pressure builds, you’ll need to strategically vent various gauges in order to buy yourself some additional time to keep building energy.
So, there you have it; a lighthearted romp about a boy who has literally lost his head and a puzzle game that will test your reflexes and timing. Look for Puppeteer and Surge Deluxe on their respective Plus services this afternoon.
