PlayStation Plus' Free Games For July Announced
July is officially upon us, which means it’s time for another batch of games to be added to the regularly rotating lineup of Instant Game Collection titles for PlayStation Plus. This month’s games feature turbo-charged cars playing soccer, a sneaky goblin, as well as a fast-paced twin-stick shooter for the Vita.
- Rocket League - PS4
- Styx: Master of Shadows - PS4
- MouseCraft - PS4, PS3, PS Vita
- Entwined - PS4, PS3, PS Vita
- Rain - PS3
- Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved - PS Vita
Announced today via the PlayStation Blog, the Plus lineup for July includes another eclectic mix of titles and, as Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements points out, four are playable on the PlayStation 4.

First up this month, and playable exclusively on the PS4, is the sports game crossed with destruction derby, Rocket League. If this game looks a bit familiar, it’s because it’s the enhanced and spruced up version of an underground favorite from the previous generation, the exhaustingly titled Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars.
Early buzz from folks who took part in the beta is that the game is a heck of a lot of fun, and coming out through Plus should actually be a huge boost for the game. It’s an odd concept, which doesn’t always translate well in the sales department. As a Plus title, though, every subscriber will have an opportunity to give the game a go, which should also mean full online lobbies.
Also hitting the PS4 exclusively this month is Styx: Master of Shadows. An under-the-radar action game from 2014, Styx puts players in control of a crafty goblin on his way to the top of a heavily guarded tower. Each floor is kind of like a puzzle, with players needing to get through physical obstacles and sword-wielding baddies as safely as possible.
If, however, you’re in the mood for a puzzle game that takes place in one less dimension, then you might want to give MouseCraft a gander, available on all three PlayStation consoles. You take on the role of a cat mad scientist who is experimenting on mice. The catch is that you actually want them to reach the cheese at the end of each test, so you’ll use geometry and physics to create helpful paths for the little buggers.

Also arriving on all three PS consoles in July’s Plus lineup is Entwined, an artsy twin-stick flying game that launched during the 2014 PlayStation E3 press conference. A student project brought to home consoles, Entwined has you piloting a pair of soaring creatures at the same time.
Over to the PS3 exclusive for the month and players can get their hands on Rain. Another intriguing puzzle platformer, players must guide a mysterious boy on a quest to help an even more mysterious girl, all the while avoiding monsters that can only be spotted when standing in the downpour.
Finally, gamers on the go have a fantastic shooter to look forward to, as Geometry Wars 3 comes to the PlayStation Vita this month.
Look for all of that to be available at no extra charge on top of your Plus subscription starting next Tuesday, July 7.
