Quantum Conundrum Game Show Hits The Air With Episode One
Airtight Games have begun an interesting ad campaign for their latest game, Quantum Conundrum the physics-based puzzle game that many are praising as the next great Portal game, casting former G4 personality Kevin Pereira as the host of the silly game show, The Super Dimensional Quantum Learning's Prolems and Solutions Gametime Spectacular!! And good lord is it terrible.
The purpose of this “game show” is to show off the four main gameplay mechanics of Quantum Conundrum, heavy, reverse gravity, slo-mo and (shown off in this first episode) fluffy.
It's a dandy concept, but man is it poorly executed. I'm going to go ahead and dive on this grenade and warn against actually watching the video. I sat through the whole thing and, honestly, it was a cruel and unusual ordeal. Given that Quantum Conundrum is from the folks behind Portal, however, we probably shouldn't be judging the book by this painful, unentertaining cover.
Since the game has four main mechanics, that means we have another three episodes coming down the pipeline. This first clip is only three minutes long, which turned out to be about three minutes too long.
Don't believe me? Think I'm being too harsh on what's probably actually a cute and clever ad campaign? Well, you can find out for yourself below. But remember, dear reader, I DID warn you.
