Quest For Glory Creators Head To Kickstart For Hero-U: Rogue To Redemption

The creators of Quest for Glory and The Castle of Dr. Brain series, top-end brands during Sierra Interactive's golden era, have come back to bring gamers a brand new, turn-based adventure RPG game called Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption and they need your help on Kickstarter.

Fans of the old-school of point and click adventure titles such as King's Quest, Space Quest and Quest for Glory are probably excited about Lori and Corey Cole 's return to game design space. Their newest title will hearken back to the hey-day of game design where fun-factors and core gameplay mechanics were at the fore-front of the production queue and not marketing budgets and which Hollywood celebrities or pornstars can be squeezed into the voice cast...-cough-Saints Row: The Third-cough-

You can check out the Cole's Kickstarter video for Hero-U below.

One of the defining aspects of this RPG is the focus on story. I like that they want to give gamers something to grasp onto and that makes sense, especially with the idea that instead of being the tired and worn-out trope of being “born a hero” you actually play a character named Shawn O’Connor, a rogue of course, who eventually evolves into a hero.

The Kickstarter goal is set to a moderate enough figure of $400,000...it might be a little too much for Obama voters, but Romney's followers should be able to spare some funds quite easily.

You can check out some of the game features for Hero-U below, and no the game is not a Wii U exclusive. For more information or the opportunity to share some funds to the project, feel free to visit the <="">.

Hero-U Features:

• Tactical combat, where player choices make a real difference

o Hero-U features turn-based combat. The player may choose a powerful, slow attack, tactical movement, or a mixture of attack and defense each turn. Shawn relies on his wits, skill, and clever use of items to succeed in combat, not brute force.

• Characters with unique personalities and their own agendas

o Each character is in the school for a reason. Shawn's relationship with the character and the stage of the game both dramatically affect conversation and reactions.

• Challenging puzzles that are an important, organic part of the story

o Hero-U has situations, rather than "guess the designer's mind" puzzles. There are multiple solutions, so critical thinking will work better than searching the Internet for answers.

• Meaningful choices between exploration, study, and social interaction

o The player's choices throughout the game influence the story, relationships, Shawn's skills, and success at combat and in school. The player will decide when to attend class, or when to cut class and explore the catacombs. Neither choice is automatically best.
