Ratchet And Clank Movie Headed To Theaters In 2015
It’s still a ways off, but that doesn’t mean we can’t all start getting excited for it now: A Ratchet and Clank movie is in development and currently slated for a 2015 release.
Fans of the Ratchet and Clank series have been comparing the games to animated films for years. The first PS3 game in the series, Tools of Destruction, even received countless comparisons to “feeling like you’re playing a Pixar film.” While Pixar isn’t the studio working on the upcoming R&C film (That’s being handled by Rainmaker and Blockade), we can all finally put aside the comparisons and just, you know, watch the dang film.
Ratchet and Clank is one of those rare game series that could actually benefit from the Hollywood treatment. It takes place in a bright and colorful world full of wonderfully realized characters who have little trouble throwing clever lines around. The stories are lighthearted but the adventures are epic. It’s not often that a film based on a game turns out to be worth the price of admissions but, for a series so perfectly suited to the task, we could all be in for a big surprise once 2015 rolls around.
In the meantime, let’s get down to speculation! Ratchet and Clank developer Insomniac Games’ latest offering, Fuse, is set to release in late May. With the PlayStation 4 expected on store shelves this holiday season and a full two years until the Ratchet and Clank movie drops, that seems like plenty of time to, say, make a new Ratchet and Clank game to release alongside the silver screen debut. Fingers crossed!
