Console gamers will get the opportunity to try out Red Faction: Armageddon before its release next month. Today THQ confirmed an Armageddon demo for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The demo, due on May 3rd, will put you in the role of Darius Mason. He must fight his way through the Martian sewers and also convince the colonists he's not to blame for an alien infestation now threatening the underground cities of Mars. That might take longer than a demo, though.
The free taster will let you try out two of the most powerful weapons in the game. The Nano Forge will allow you to pummel enemies with powerful concussive blasts. It also has the ability to build cover and repair destroyed objects.
The Magnet Gun is the real show-stopper, though. You fire it at two objects, which causes the first object to collide with the second. You can throw an enemy into a building...or a building at an enemy. Experimenting with the Magnet Gun will likely be a highlight of the demo.
In the same announcement, THQ confirmed that the PC will not be receiving a demo. No reason was given for the snub. PC gamers are probably used to that sort of thing by now, though.
Armageddon will be released on May 31st in North America and mainland Europe. Australia and the UK will receive the game on June 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
