Renegade X: Beyond Black Dawn Beta Is Live, Gameplay Footage Released
A new-gen FPS/RTS hybrid is in the works based on the Unreal Tournament 3 mod that was based on Command & Conquer: Renegade. The team working on the project has revealed that a beta is live and requires a working copy of Unreal Tournament 3. To give gamers a taste of what they can expect an extremely well-polished trailer was released.
You can check out the update gameplay trailer below, which is just unbelievably remarkable. The team designed the game using Epic’s free-to-use Unreal Development Kit, enabling them to basically re-design EA’s Command & Conquer as a hybrid, real-time third-person (or first-person), multiplayer shooter.
I have to say, I’m more than overly impressed. Is it me or does this look the way triple-A games should be? The concept alone is something we should have been playing for years now, but I guess we can only look for forward-thinking innovation from the indie community these days.
As shown, the game sports a multiplayer based standalone campaign with many of the vehicles, weapons and unit types from the classic Command & Conquer games. Players will dramatically alter the battlefield using Battlefield-esque team-work fused in with a little Call of Duty-style run-and-gun Rambo tactics.
You can download the beta from the Official Website so long as you have an updated version of Unreal Tournament 3. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on this mod/game/indie project’s progress.
