Rise Of The Tomb Raider Coming To PC, Get The Details
Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix may have hit a rough patch with the release of Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, but they'll soon have an opportunity to recover from the fumble with the release of the game on PC, maybe even as soon as January 2016. That's assuming a Steam listing is to be believed.
According to Gamespot, the listing on Steam was spotted and it shows that Lara Croft's latest adventure from Crystal Dynamics could be arriving as soon as next month. Check out the image of the listing below.

Usually a good way to confirm if the listing is bogus or not is to check the SteamDB entries. According to SteamDB, the listing on Steam is correct. In fact, the game was updated within the last 24 hours as of the writing of this article. According to SteamDB, the game is listed for release on January 1st, 2016.
Unfortunately, this is not a certified date. Keep in mind that SteamDB is used for tracking backend modifications to games by developers. While the date could be legit, it could also be a placeholder for when they launch certain other application facilities for Rise of the Tomb Raider.
The database information notes that the game is currently in its pre-release state, but over the Christmas holiday weekend the developers have been play-testing the title on Steam. So it looks as if the game is definitely launching sooner rather than later.

Some gamers might be wondering how accurate the information is on SteamDB. I would say it's not an issue of accuracy as it is a representation of a game's state within Steam's database. For instance, Microsoft has Halo 2 and Halo 3 in the database and frequently updates the games with major changes for Halo 5: Guardians on the Xbox One. No one really knows or understands why they update Halo 3 in the SteamDB, especially after they made a public statement saying the game wasn't being released on PC, but it could be for a number of other compatibility or infrastructure reasons related to porting games to PC.
As for Rise of the Tomb Raider, I don't doubt that the game is launching soon for Steam. Although I don't think that the SteamDB listing of January 1st, 2016 is entirely accurate. The Steam Winter Sale will continue through that time and I doubt Crystal Dynamics wants the game to launch during the big sale, only to be buried by all the other big game discounts. That's about equivalent to launching the game against Fallout 4.
An Amazon listing spotted by Geek.com indicated that the game could be launching on January 29th, 2016 on PC. I tend to think that that date makes a lot more sense than January 1st, but we'll find out more about Rise of the Tomb Raider's PC release as we head into January in just a few days.
