Xbox 360 gamers may get another Halo game this holiday season. Rumor has it that TimeShift studio Saber Interactive is currently developing a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, the Xbox Original game that started the franchise.
Joystiq's sources say that this isn't merely the same game with higher resolution graphics, though it will support 1080p visuals. The game's visuals are being reconstructed with new art assets. However, it will not use Halo: Reach's engine.
The (alleged) gameplay changes are intended to make Evolved play like one of the more recent 360 installments. The control schemes will be altered and online co-op will be added. Other multiplayer details are still being worked out.
The remade Combat Evolved is expected to be released on November 15, 2011, which is the tenth anniversary of the game's original release.
