It seems Capcom is about to reveal Resident Evil 6 to the public. The latest rumor out of San Diego Comic Con says they'll reveal the next installment in the survival horror series in September.
A user at the Hell Descent forums attended a press conference about upcoming Capcom games. At one point, they apparently mentioned that more details will be revealed on September 15th during Tokyo Game Show. The tipster also snapped a picture of the slide with these details. The picture has a basic logo for the game, too.
No concrete information has been provided about RE6 yet. Capcom technically hasn't announced it yet. There are some indications that it will be less action-oriented than RE5, though, and more focused on survival horror.
"We know that a lot of fans want more horror back for the next one, the development team knows that as well and we read a lot of comments, messageboards, and ask for feedback, and there was a lot of criticism about RE5′s focus on action," a Capcom rep said at E3. "I think that you’ll like the direction the dev team is shifting for the next one."
The move back to horror would make sense. Slant Six Games is currently making Resident Evil: Raccoon City, a squad-based shooter that would presumably sate action fans that enjoyed RE5's run and gun feel. That game leaves Capcom free to develop a slower, scarier RE6 without fear of shrinking the franchise's audience.
