STALKER Online MMO Heads Into Beta
There have been arguments across the interwebs about the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series potentially having a cooperative mode implemented at some point. Some people are for it, some are against it. One thing a lot of people admit, though, is that it would be really fun going through the zone with a couple of friends either as stalkers, mercenaries, the military or bandits.
Well, CyberTime Systems' MMOFPS has slipped onto the radar haphazardly from an off-screen video showing off what appears to be S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Online, an MMO spin-off of GSC Game World's popular open-world FPS-RPG. According to DSO Gaming, the project is not from GSC, who commented that the video you're about to see is not from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, but however from a beta version of a project from CyberTime.
Furthermore, it appears the game is playable so long as you know a wee bit of Russian or Ukrainian. A few gamers were able to get into the game but weren't able to make much progress due to the language barriers. The open beta for the project is still currently ongoing and if you want to test the game out for yourself you can do so by visiting the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Online Forums.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is still under development by Ukrainian studio GSC Game World and is scheduled to release sometime down the road for PC.
