In Saints Row 4, the Third Street Saints aren't mere celebrities anymore. At the start of the game, the leader of the street gang has been elected President of the United States. That's not even the weird part.
Before the Saints can enjoy their new political power, aliens invade the Earth. To keep the Saints from interfering with their plans, they trap the gang in a simulated version of Steelport. The Saints must escape the simulation and stop Warlord Zinyak from taking over the world. If the plot sounds familiar, it's because the game was originally conceived as an expansion to SR3 called Enter the Dominatrix.
The already bizarre assortment of Saints Row vehicles and weaponry will be augmented in SR4 with new alien technology. Furthermore, players will have superpowers at their disposal. They can run faster than a car, throw enemies with telekinesis or even leap over buildings.
SR4's original publisher, THQ, sold the game and developer Volition to Koch Media earlier this year. The game will be published by Koch's Deep Silver label. Koch Media promised that the game would arrive later this year and they're going to uphold that promise. The game's due on Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC on August 20th here in North America. Other countries will receive the game on the 23rd.
The first screenshots from the game, depicting alien ships and superpowers, are below.
