A new report says that the next game in the Scribblenauts will feature DC Comics super heroes and supervillains. The game was once called Scribblenauts Unmasked but the title and many other details are currently being decided.
Scribblenauts games, players must rely on their imagination. They can summon any objects or people that they can think of in order to solve a level's objectives. For example, you might be asked to rescue a castaway from a desert island. To do so, you could summon a boat, a helicopter, a bridge or - well, you get the idea.
Scribblenauts Unmasked (or whatever it's called now) adheres to this same basic formula, IGN says, but also adds DC Comics characters into the mix. In one sample mission, Scribblenauts hero Max meets two police officers and must figure out which one is Clayface. Another mission pits him against Killer Croc in the sewers beneath Wayne Manor.
The Scribblenauts series has featured licensed characters in the past. The Wii U version of Scribblenauts Unlimited allowed players to summon the cast of Mario and Zelda. The game's object editor was robust enough to recreate Dark Knight and Mortal Kombat, among other things.
IGN's report stresses that many key aspects of the game are still in the works. Max may not be the main character of the game. In that case, the current storyline of Max aiding DC superheroes in their adventures would obviously have to change as well.
The game's platforms apparently aren't being deliberated, though. IGN says that Unmasked is in development for PC, Wii U and 3DS. The game will be announced at E3 in June.
