The upcoming issue of Game Informer will give the world their first look at South Park: The Game. It's a "full-scale" role-playing game being prepared for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Trey Park and Matt Stone, creators of the cartoon, will write the script and provide the voice-acting. They'll also collaborate with THQ and Obsidian Entertainment on the development. Obsidian is a seasoned RPG developer whose credits include Neverwinter Nights 2 and Fallout: New Vegas.
In the game, players will take on the role of the new kid in South Park. You'll have to befriend some of the locals and also help defend the town from danger.
South Park will be released in 2012. The Game Informer issue with more details will be arriving in subscribers' mailboxes next week.
