The main villain of the Star Trek shooter is the Gorn, a reptilian race well-known to long-time fans. A new behind-the-scenes video from Namco Bandai looks at how this race was adapted for use in the game.
The Gorn first appeared in the original Star Trek television series back in the 1960's. At the time, they looked like green men with lizard heads. For the video game, the developers at Digital Extremes gave the Gorn more "alien" features. They stoop forward and run on all fours.
The development team also worked to create sub-divisions of the Gorn. Kirk and Spock will face plenty of standard, phaser-wielding Gorn but some will have tricks up their sleeves like personal cloaking devices. Some of these enemies are giant bruisers who can pick up our heroes and toss them around if they get close enough.
Today's video is the second in a series of behind-the-scenes previews. The first, entitled "Ultimate Co-Op Experience," was released a month ago. It gave a look at the game's space battles and "dive" sequences.
Star Trek will be released in April on the consoles and PC.
