Today a rumor swept the Internet that Star Wars 1313 would be arriving this year on current-generation consoles. It sounded too good to be true and now LucasArts has confirmed the report is false.
The whole thing started at the official German Facebook page for PlayStation. A new post there promised a 2013 release date for the game. This surprised many people, as the gameplay footage looked like next-generation technology.
"That was an inaccurate post. We have not confirmed any platforms yet for 1313 and do not have any announcements to make at this time," LucasArts told Kotaku. PlayStation Germany explained to the site that they were merely expressing enthusiasm that it will on "any of the PlayStation Platforms in the near future." The Facebook post that started all this buzz has since been removed.
In Star Wars 1313, players take on the role of a bounty hunter. He and his partner are visiting Coruscant when they're suddenly ambushed. They must make their way through the level 1313 of the city-planet and find out why someone's trying to rub them out.
Between the impressive visuals and unexpectedly dark tone, 1313 sounds like it might be one of the rare Star Wars games worth playing. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for this one.
