Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Version 2 Trailer Features Amazing Speeder Chase
LucasArts is done and finished and you won't be getting any good games out of the studio on the developmental front. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean you can't get a glimpse of a game you won't be able to play but one you'll probably willingly give a left or right leg to experience.
Kotaku managed to get their hands on the new footage, and while they tried restricting everyone else from embedding the video into their website, thankfully YouTube came to the rescue and offered up their own watchable versions.
As noted on Kotaku, this is actually NOT the same game as Star Wars: First Assault, which was actually aimed at being a Call of Duty type first-person shooter without vehicles. As mentioned in a previous article, First Assault was supposed to be a precursor to setup the launch (or gauge interest) for Star Wars: Battlefront 3.
Supposedly, Version 2 was the real Battlefront 3 that would have followed the release of First Assault. Version 2 would have been the Star Wars games fans have been asking for throughout this entire past console generation. What's more is that Version 2 was supposedly being designed in house at LucasArts...no more outsourcing.
After one of the many recent shootings involving gun violence, however, a top-head at Disney purportedly came down on the Version 2 project to re-evaluate the company's position regarding gun violence. I'm not sure if its Liberal pandering or Conservative paranoia, but the bureaucratic stench absolutely reeks.
Anyway, long story short, LucasArts is dead in the water and we probably won't be getting Star Wars: Battlefront 3 anytime soon.
