Battlefield developer DICE is creating a new Star Wars: Battlefront game. EA aired the first trailer for the game during their E3 press conference.
The trailer doesn't show much. A soldier on an arctic planet (presumably Hoth) is stumbling through a battlefield. After nearly getting clipped by a landspeeder, an AT-AT steps on them.
The Battlefront series focuses on large-scale battles in the Star Wars universe. Players can fight on foot or in various vehicles. There are several different infantry classes available, each with different abilities and equipment. The premise is similar to Battlefield's so DICE actually seems like a good studio to take the reins of the series.
DICE's Battlefront will be the first game in the series since 2009. LucasArts attempted to make Battlefront 3 this generation but unfortunately they cancelled the project. All that's left is some really impressive gameplay footage.
EA purchased the video game license for Star Wars from Disney last month. Visceral Games is creating a new Star Wars game as well.
