Electronic Arts announced today that there was strong gamer interest in Star Wars: The Old Republic's beta. Over two million players signed up to test the upcoming MMORPG.
SW:TOR has been in closed beta for several months. Developer BioWare has also been holding "beta weekends" to give other players brief glimpses at the game. Everyone who signed up through the official website was given beta access during the Thanksgiving weekend.
EA chief financial officer Eric Brown said at the Global Media and Communications Conference (via Gamespot) that this three-day "stress test" was played by over 725,000 people. These players played an average of 12 hours. Over 9 million hours were played in total.
Old Republic will launch in North America and Europe on December 20th.
