For April Fool's Day, Blizzard unveiled a fake mobile game called StarCraft: Supply Depot 2. The game, playable through your browser today, is an 8-bit side-scroller with a twist.
The twist is that the game doesn't side-scroll. You play the role of a Terran Supply Depot. Like the depots in StarCraft, you can sit there or lower yourself into the ground so troops can pass. That's all you can do, though.
"Pushed to their limits, the beleaguered terrans plan a last-ditch attempt to save their people from extinction," says Blizzard. "They enter deep development on the most important research project of their time, one that will elevate warfare forever. RAISE your expectations! LOWER your enemies into the ground!! Mankind's last resort is...Supply Depot!"
The few entries on Supply Depot 2's features list poke fun at a few other games in the industry.
- Endless hours of gaming including repeat playthroughs and Endurance Mode!
- Multiple endings, each influenced by your choices and color-coded for your convenience! (Further epic endings planned for post release as downloadable content.)
- Tens of hundreds of thousands of unlockable hats!
A few screenshots from Supply Depot 2 are below. You can try a Flash version of the game at its webpage.
