Super Mario Bros. 2 Headlines This Week's Nintendo Digital Offerings, On Sale For Wii U
After a couple of pretty slow weeks on the Nintendo eShop and Virtual Console, the Big N is beefing up its digital content this week, offering several new games and a sale or two for the Wii U, Wii, 3DS and DSi.
First up, let’s take a look at the Virtual Console offerings on Wii U. Super Mario Bros. 2 finally joins the roster, letting players take control of Mario, Luigi, the Princess and Toad in a platforming adventure to save the world of dreams. Or was the game itself all a dream Mario was having? It’s been like 20 years since I’ve beaten the game, so you can’t fault me for being fuzzy on the details. Either way, the game will be marked down to 50 percent off through 9 a.m. PT on May 23.
Another pair of sidescrolling adventure games also join the Virtual Console this week for Wii U, including Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts and the infinitely amazing, Super Metroid. You can pick up that loast one for just 30 cents for a limited time, too.
On over to the Wii U eShop and gamers can download a pair of new titles, as well as take advantage of a sale on Bit.Trip Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien for 25 percent off through May 30. If an endless runner isn’t your cup-o-tee, then perhaps you will enjoy digital versions of Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes or Resident Evil: Revelations.
If you’re gaming on the 3DS, Swords and Soldier 3D joins the list of games on the eShop this week, letting players control an entire army in a side-scrolling, real-time strategy adventure. Bowling Bonanza 3D and Dres to Play: Magic Bubbles are also being added to the 3DS eShop this week with Mega Man 5, Harvest Moon and The Starship Damrey being added to the Virtual Console.
Finally, the DSi eShop will receive California Super Sports this week while the Wii Virtual Console sees the arrival of The King of Fighters ‘99.
