Super Mario RPG Out Today. Why? Because Nintendo Loves You
Labor Day sucks. Or rules. It depends on how you look at it. It’s great because you get a sweet three day weekend (Four days if you were lucky enough to take off last Friday), but sucks because like any highly anticipated day off, you have to go back to work the next day and the next real holiday coming up isn’t for at least two or three months now. Bummer at the end of summer, I know.
But hey, sorry to be such a downer, here’s some good news. Today, if you have a Virtual Console and 800 Wii points, you can purchase one of the wackiest, albeit best RPG’s of all time: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. If you’ve never played it before, then you’re in for a real treat.
In the mid-nineties, Squaresoft (now Square Enix) teamed up with Nintendo to put Mario in an adventure unlike anything he’d ever been in before. One involving dialogue (What? You mean besides "Mama mia"?), and hit points, and all sorts of other RPG-type things that go bump in the cosplay festival. Also, Link makes a brief appearance in it, so be on the look out for that.

That said, he’ll take Chicago Deep Dish pizza over a New York slice any day of the week. Don’t hate. When he’s not watching his two kids, he’s usually working on a novel, watching vintage movies, or reading some obscure book.
