Today Capcom confirmed that they are developing a revamped version of Street Fighter IV, entitled Super Street Fighter IV. SSIV will add eight new characters and new multiplayer features.
Two of the new characters were confirmed by Gamespot's exclusive preview: classic fighter T. Hawk and newcomer Juni. Juni is a Korean Tae Kwon Do expert who relies on her agility and powerful kicks to take out the competition. Capcom also plans to tune the returning SFIV fighters and give them new ultra combos.
Details were slim on the new online features, but the changes will be extensive enough that SFIV and SSFIV won't be cross-compatible. Though Capcom considered releasing SSFIV as downloadable content for SFIV, ultimately the changes were too great for that to be possible. SSFIV will be a standalone disc but fortunately won't carry the price tag of a full game. Apparently there's some mystery reward for players who own both games, too.
The teaser trailer (emphasis on "teaser") is below. Look for SSFIV to arrive in early 2010 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
