At the Tokyo Game Show, Nintendo finally presented a solution to a major flaw in the Wii: the lack of a hard drive. Oh, so they're adding a hard drive? No, not exactly.
Starting in Spring 2009, Wii owners will be able to load and play software from SD cards plugged into your Wii. You'll also be able to download software directly to these cards. Having a stack of 2 GB SD cards sitting next to your Wii isn't the sexiest or most conventional solution, but it's certainly the easiest.
It's an overdue, welcome change and should solve a lot of the problems that cropped up with Wii versions of multi-platform games due to the lack of a hard drive - for example, transferring Rock Band songs to Rock Band 2. Curious to see what Nintendo going to do to keep people from swapping these SD cards with full games, though.
