Activision has released another character-specific trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows. This time it's Raphael's turn to show off his moves. Surprisingly, he manages to do it without bitching.
As I said when the Michelangelo trailer debuted, the game's combat gives a strong Batman: Arkham City vibe. Players bounce between multiple enemies, punctuating each combo with slow-mo finishers. Raph looks like a pro wrestling fan; we see him pull off a suplex and a DDT on hapless thugs here.
Out of the Shadows draws inspiration from the current TMNT show on Nickelodeon. As such, it keeps things kid-friendly. Raphael jabs the Foot Clan with sais but there's no blood spray or impalement. Fortunately, a fighting game doesn't need a Mature rating to be brutal. Older fans of TMNT should still be pleased with the level of violence here.
I'm curious how this combat system will change with co-op. The footage we've seen so far shows a lone turtle battling groups of enemies on his own. How does the game adjust to having multiple characters on screen capable of beating up armies of enemies on their own? It could be awesome but it could also be awkward.
Out of the Shadows will arrive this summer in digital form on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. It's one of three TMNT games on the way.
