Telltale Games has revealed the release dates for their Game of Thrones game. The first episode, "Iron from Ice," will be rolling out to all platforms this week.
"Iron from Ice" will debut on Tuesday, December 2nd on PC, Mac and PS4 in North America before spreading to other platforms (via Twitter):
Telltale's Game Of Thrones series starts near the end of Season 3 of the HBO show and concludes at the start of Season 5. It's not just an adaptation of the show's events, though. Instead, players see the War of the Five Kings from a new perspective: House Forrester. The Forresters are a family loyal to the Starks who find themselves drawn into the war for the North's independence.
Game of Thrones will put players in the shoes of five different characters tied to House Forrester. They'll travel to familiar locations such as the Wall and King's Landing along with never-before-seen places like the House Forrester stronghold of Ironrath.
"Ironrath sits on the edge of the largest ironwood forest in Westeros, which has proven to be a strategic advantage for the House," Telltale says. "The trees are a valuable commodity; many of the best weapons, ships, and defensive structures include the use of ironwood. House Forrester controls the majority of the ironwood forests in the Wolfswood, much to the chagrin of their bitter rivals, House Whitehill."
Players will meet notable Game of Thrones characters during their adventures such as Margaery Tyrell, Ramsay Snow, Tyrion Lannister and Cersei Lannister. They'll be voiced by the actors that play them in the HBO series. Telltale promises that other cast members from the show could reprise their roles later in the game's six-episode season as well.
Like Telltale projects Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones is driven by player choice. Players change the story through hard decisions. Ultimately, their actions may decide whether or not House Forrester survives.
