The Thief reboot is one of the games Square Enix will bring to this year's E3. A new live-action trailer from the publisher provides a formal introduction to Garrett, the master thief at the heart of the game.
Garrett has been away from his hometown, simply called the City, for years. He returns to find the town in disarray. An autocratic ruler named the Baron is now in power. The citizens have been ravaged by a plague. The rich are still as rich as ever, though, and Garrett decides to do what he does best: rob them blind.
Thief emphasizes stealth over action. Garrett can kill if he needs to, but he's better off sticking to the shadows. He can use a bow or blackjack to take down enemies silently.
The trailer gives us a preview of Garrett's new voice. In previous games, he was voiced by Stephen Russell. However, Square Enix decided to opt for an actor who could handle the voice and motion capture duties. The new actor is Romano Orzari, who played Giovanni Auditore da Firenze in Assassin's Creed 2.
Thief will hit stores in 2014 on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
