PC gamers won't miss out on Transformers: Fall of Cybertron after all. Activision announced that, like predecessor Transformers: War for Cybertron, Fall will hit the PC and consoles simultaneously.
High Moon Studios, lead developer for Fall, won't be handling the PC edition by themselves. Instead, they've enlisted Mercenary Games. Mercenary Technologies is a Santa Cruz, California-based studio currently creating a sci-fi strategy game FleetCOMM: Operation Vigrior. That appears to be the only other project to their name, other than this port.
The fact that a new studio is handling the PC version might cause gamers to be a bit nervous. Mercenary doesn't have any action games to their credit that they know what they're doing. Activison's announcement mentions that High Moon is "working closely" with the studio, but the words "working closely" are obviously open to interpretation
Cybertron continues the civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons. A number of new characters will enter the fight, include the Combaticons and Dinobots. The game will culminate with both forces leaving and heading toward their new home: Earth.
Activision plans to release Fall on August 28th in North America and on the 31st in Europe.
Update: GameSpy has learned that the developer is actually Mercenary Technology. They're a company composed of industry veterans that formed in 2010.
