Frozenbyte revealed today that their side-scroller Trine 2 will be hitting the PC and Mac this week. They also revealed release dates for the console versions, which will arrive later in the month.
The PC and Mac versions of Trine 2 will arrive on December 7th digitally and through retailers. The worldwide Xbox Live release is slated for December 21st. The game will hit the North American PSN on December 20th, while the European PSN date has yet to be determined. Linux and DRM-free iterations of the game are expected next year.
Trine 2 is available for pre-order in two flavors. The regular edition costs $14.99. The Collector's Edition ($24.99) comes with a digital artbook and an original soundtrack.
Much like the 2009 platformer Trine, Trine 2 lets players take on the role of a thief, wizard or warrior. They must then work together with the two other characters to traverse levels. The challenge is figuring out how to use each character's unique abilities to bypass obstacles. A new unlimited mode allows you to have a party composed of, for example, three warriors or two thiefs and a wizards.
