The tropical setting of island management sim Tropico 3 makes it seem like a perfect summer release but unfortunately it won't hit stores until the fall. You can get your hands on the game next month if you're lucky, though.
Developer Haemimont Games is now accepting applications for a closed beta. It's a fairly short app, mainly questioning your experience with beta testing and the Tropico series. The application also asks for system specs so it seems the beta's for the PC and not the newly-announced Xbox 360 version. No regional restrictions on the beta are noted in the press release or the application itself.
The closed beta begins on July 13th. Players who are selected to participate will be notified by e-mail. The game's scheduled to hit stores in September.
