For the next Tony Hawk game, Robomodo is going back in time. According to a trailer unveiled at the Spike VGAs tonight, they're developing an HD remake of Tony Hawk Pro Skater, the game that launched the highly successful skateboarding franchise.
The trailer is about half a minute of continuous gameplay footage from this remake. No word on what other features Tony Hawk HD will include. Expect all the standard fixings like Achievement/Trophy support, leaderboards, and remastered visuals/sound, though.
The Tony Hawk series took a strange turn when development duties were passed from Neversoft to Robomodo. Robomodo's first two games in the series, Tony Hawk: Shred and Tony Hawk: Ride, made use of an expensive, hoverboard-like peripheral. It was a disaster in terms of sales and reviews. A remake of a game from "the good old days" seems like a smart way to win back fans' trust and perhaps open a new chapter for the franchise.
The game's release date and platforms weren't mentioned in the trailer. Presumably a press release with further details will be sent out on Monday.
