WWE 2K14 will allow players to experience key moments throughout WrestleMania's history. In the "30 Years of Wrestlemania" mode, they'll relive over 45 matches from the past three decades.
The mode is an overdose of nostalgia. You can travel back to WrestleMania 3 to play Hulk Hogan's championship match against Andre the Giant. You can also jump fifteen years ahead to Hulk Hogan's "Icon vs. Icon" showdown at WrestleMania 18. If you're a younger fan of WWE, you might prefer the Wrestlemania 28 brawl between the Rock and John Cena. Artwork of each of the confirmed wrestlers, as well as a few screenshots, can be found below.
"30 Years of WrestleMania" is a single-player campaign broken into five eras. Arenas, superstar entrances and outfits have all been recreated. The game also offers special graphics and screen filters for each era. In the screenshot of the WrestleMania 3 fight, there's some noticeable fuzz in the image - better adjust your antenna. The development team included cutscenes to fill you in on all the drama leading up to each match as well.
Each match in WrestleMania mode carries a series of objectives. These objectives generally encourage players to replicate historic moments from these matches. Completing these goals will unlock content such as new characters, arenas, outfits and archive photos.
The full roster for 30 Years of Wrestlemania Mode will be announced at SummerSlam Axxess on Saturday, August 17th. The reveal will be hosted on Twitch.TV and will be hosted by WWE Superstar Damien Sandow as well as WWE Hall of Famers Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler. The event will kick off at 3:30 Eastern time.
Though we don't know the official roster for the mode yet, I'm sure long-time WWE fans can guess plenty of the superstars featured in it. The Undertaker, who racked up a historic winning streak at WrestleMania, will almost certainly make an appearance. I would imagine Ultimate Warrior, a long-time WrestleMania veteran, would be part of the mode as well. He's only available to pre-order customers, though.
WWE 2K14 will launch on October 29th in North America and on November 1st internationally. Long-time series developer Yukes is creating PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
