Telltale Games has announced the official release dates for Walking Dead: 400 Days, the new episode that acts as a bridge to Season Two of the adventure game. Depending on your platform of choice, you could play it as early as tomorrow.
PS3 gamers in North America will be able to download 400 Days on Tuesday. The game will be available on PC and Mac through Steam and Telltale's official store on the following day. The worldwide Xbox Live launch will occur on July 5th. PS3 gamers in Europe and iOS owners won't be able to play it during the holiday weekend; 400 Days will arrive on those platforms on July 10th and 11th, respectively.
There's no mention of the Vita release date. At E3, Sony revealed that they would be releasing 400 Days in a special bundle with Season One for that platform. It will be the first time that Walking Dead appears on the Vita.
400 Days is played from the perspective of five new characters. Though these characters' stories are intertwined, you'll play each separately and in any order you choose. Some of 400 Days takes place after the events of Season One, but it's not directly connected to the story. You can jump into 400 Days without having played any of Lee and Clementine's adventure, though Telltale says you'll appreciate 400 more if you finished that season. Your choices in Season One will actually affect the storyline of 400 Days.
Telltale designed 400 Days with an eye toward Season Two. The episode will introduce a host of new characters, some of whom will presumably return in the future. Furthermore, Telltale revealed this weekend that your choices might affect the storyline of Season 2 as well. Maybe try not to kill too many of your fellow survivors.
400 Days will cost $5 to download. Though it's not a direct expansion of Season One, it's technically DLC. You'll need to have at least the first episode of Season One installed on your gaming device in order to run 400.
