The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct will be hitting stores around the time that the third season of the TV show wraps up. Terminal Reality has revealed a late March release date for the first-person shooter.
According to Digital Spy, the game will arrive in Europe on March 29th. That date is a Friday so it probably doesn't apply to North America. In North America, games usually arrive on Tuesdays so expect Survival Instinct there on March 26th or April 2nd.
The game was originally announced for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. However, Terminal Reality is now working on a Wii U version as well.
"We were over halfway through the project when the Wii U thing started coming about," Survival producer Glenn Gamble told Digital Spy. "We didn't want to change the game, because the game had already been established, so we tried to say, 'What can we augment with the Wii U version?'"
The Wii U version will use the GamePad's touchscreen for inventory management. Instead of pulling up a separate inventory screen, you'll have it in front of you at all times. You could, for example, tap a weapon to equip it. Gamble says that it's more "streamlined" than the inventory system in the other versions.
Survival Instinct is a prequel to the events of the TV show. Players take on the role of Daryl Dixon shortly after the zombie outbreak begins. They accompany their brother Merle on a journey across the southern United States. They'll have to sneak past or fight scores of zombies along the way. The first gameplay footage was released in December.
