Wasteland 2 Comes With A Free Copy Of Wasteland
Successfully crowd-funded indie game, Wasteland 2, won't arrive all by itself on the digital doorsteps of gamers after being purchased. Instead, Wasteland 2 will also arrive with the first Wasteland as a bonus and a way of inXile Entertainment saying "Thank you!" to the gaming community.
Brian Fargo, the head honcho of inXile Entertainment, commented in the press release about the bundle pack, saying...
Keep in mind that the bundle package won't include an HD remake or some other re-envisioned edition of the original Wasteland, no we're talking about that absolutely old-school classic from 1987. It doesn't get anymore old-school than that. And Fargo's mention of EA's support extends beyond the publishing giant allowing inXile to re-release the age-old PC classic, the publisher will also be providing a 90-day distribution waiver for crowd-funded games that appear on Origin.
The original game helped set a precedent for the post-apocalyptic wasteland genre, paving the way for additional follow-ups in the genre including Fallout, Auto-Assault and Outlander to name a few.
Wasteland 2 was successfully funded on Kickstarter with approximately $3 million in crowd-sourcing. The game is running on Unity Technology's much praised and highly scalable AAA Unity Engine. The game is still currently in development but when it does release you'll be receiving a double dose of Wasteland gaming goodness.
