Watch The Battlefield 1 Trailer Recreated In Grand Theft Auto 5
Replacing a flamethrower with a minigun, the Zeppelin with a blimp, and an air carrier with a yacht, machinima maker J57F managed to make due with some quirky objects and items to recreate the Battlefield 1 trailer in GTA V.
Gamespot picked up the trailer from over on J57F's YouTube channel. The trailer is only a minute long, cut together in similar fashion as DICE's highly popular trailer for Battlefield 1.
The machinima's audio is directly ripped from the Battlefield 1 trailer, so it's edited nicely on that front. Of course, there are some huge differences between the engine capabilities of the RAGE and the Frostbite 3.
It's no knock against Rockstar and what they've been able to achieve with the RAGE, but it just doesn't hold a candle to the Frostbite 3 as far as physics, lighting and procedural destruction is concerned. This is made especially evident in the trailer when the crop duster bites the dust in the pillar and it crumples in an unimpressive way while the tower doesn't budge an inch. It's the complete opposite of what happened in the Battlefield 1 trailer, where the tower crumbles and falls apart after direct impact from the plane.
I'm a little disappointed that J57F also didn't make better use of the modding community out there to implement more military themed vehicles and gear to give the GTA V atmosphere a closer theme to that of Battlefield 1. Instead we get to see some goofy replacements like the yacht and the blimp, which could have been done purposefully just for laughs.
To show exactly how different both trailers are, J57F did a side-by-side comparison showing the original Battlefield 1 trailer and the machinima made in GTA V. Check it out below.
The original Battlefield 1 trailer has actually managed to amass more than 1.4 million “Likes” on YouTube, and has more than 26 million views.

The trailer shot up in popularity in large part thanks to people wanting something different after being fed more sci-fi themes from Call of Duty for the third year in a row. In fact, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's trailer has managed 18 million views and 1.8 million dislikes. Essentially, just about everyone who dislisked the Call of Duty trailer appeared to like the Battlefield 1 trailer. I wouldn't even doubt it if the machinima above with GTA V manages to get more likes than the Infinite Warfare trailer.
GTA V is out now for PC and home console, while Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be arriving this fall for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
