Weekly Recap: Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Features Kevin Spacey, Mechs And More
This week was a good mix of healthy skepticism, unbridled anticipation, broiled feelings of boredom and plenty of mixed emotions over the latest reveal that is Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
There were other items that occurred throughout the week as well, but nothing quite as noteworthy as Activision and Sledgehammer's announcement that Kevin Spacey would be starring in the newest Call of Duty as if he were taking his prime-time, Academy Award-winning acting skills back to the small screen... or rather, digital screen, in the billion-dollar franchise that jump-started no one's career but featured plenty of Hollywood heavyweights throughout the years.
All of this and lots more, in this May 3rd, 2014 edition of the Gaming Blend Weekly Recap.
Xbox One Sales Fail
The Xbox One has ended up where it's like that drunk, battered, husband whose wife left him for the better looking, younger, thinner, hotter guy that makes more money and costs less to maintain. Some new information has revealed that Microsoft may have to stall production of the Xbox One, otherwise it might end up in a New Mexico desert next to E.T.. Sales haven't been so great and that shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Just the same as a Mass Effect trilogy launching for new gen consoles shouldn't be much of a surprise either. In addition to this, there's a brand new documentary in the works for Earthbound, which is bound to be interesting. And Nintendo has a crazy pre-order bonus for Mario Kart 8 involving a $10 gas coupon... for your car. Click it to believe it.
Free Skype On Xbox One
Who saw it coming? The Xbox One now allows users to access Skype and its group chats for free. A classic title from the sixth gen of gaming has returned in HD. Find out how well the game works in this new review for the PS4. EA has unveiled the latest Madden NFL title for this year, but they still gave Nintendo and Wii U fans the shaft. There's also a short list of some comic book characters who could really use their own video games. Oh and Nintendo has re-entered the console war. They're here to stay.

Driveclub Release Date Set
The official release date for Driveclub has been set. The game is now scheduled to arrive this fall. That's a breath of fresh air for a bunch of gamers, I'm sure. TowerFall also becomes a pretty big hit for both PC and the PlayStation 4. New DLC is on the way for Outlast called Whistleblower and you can get the latest info right here. Dieselstormers brings four-player co-op action to Kickstarter, and Nintendo skips on the traditional E3 media brief for something a bit more fan-centric.
Top Ideas For Mass Effect 4's Story
Oh this gets knee-deep into nerd territory, but you'll definitely want to check out some of these story-plots that BioWare could explore for the upcoming Mass Effect 4. Nintendo has rolled out more pre-order bundles for Mario Kart 8 and the Wii U. Microsoft has also made it known that the Xbox One will officially launch in China this September. Spaceship Corporation is also scheduled to release this fall on Steam and Valve has rolled out the official worldwide championship tournament for DOTA 2 with The International... grab the details right here.
The Hunger Games Studio Opens Video Game Division
In a strange twist of fate, Lionsgate has opened up their very own video game division. Whether or not they'll just publish bad mobile cash-ins or produce their very own high-quality titles is something that remains to be seen, but there are a lot of properties under the Lionsgate belt that could get some good video game loving. Trion has also announced that Defiance is going free-to-play. Sony announced that the PS4's library will continue to expand exponentially with 12 brand new indie titles, and Transformers: Universe is opening up their founders program for gamers eager to get in on the MMO action.
Kevin Spacey Stars In Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
Because when modern warfare has been used up, dried up and killed up, you need to evolve that shite and go advanced warfare on those mofos. Well, Activision and Sledgehammer Studios went advanced with the latest Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The whole thing looks like the typical, over-the-top, Michael-Bay-approved, summer-blockbuster schlock we've been force-fed annually through Activision regurgitation process, but people love it nonetheless. There's hope, though. Nintendo is taking back the sales charts with Mario Kart 8 on Amazon. Also, Dean “Rocket” Hall announced that DayZ has surpassed 2 million in sales, making it one of the highest grossing and most popular early access games on the market. Additionally, Wildstar is entering its final beta test this very weekend. You might want to jump in on that before it's too late.
