Weekly Recap: Destiny's Beta Gets Underway And 5 Other Big Stories
The week was all a build-up toward one massive event: the launch of the Destiny beta for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on Thursday. The game caused massive amounts of users to log into the PlayStation Network that resulted in a short outage. Nevertheless, gamers managed to get in some game time with Destiny for the first time since the alpha.
But before getting to Bungie's first-person shooter, earlier in the week Bandai Namco Games unveiled Tekken 7. Capcom's Yoshinori Ono also stated that the company has plans for another big game being announced “soon”. There's also a list for the best Wii U games released so far, and the first details of Doom for the eighth-gen consoles and PC. Tekken 7 Announced
Bandai Namco leaked some big news during this year's Evo 2014 Championship Series: Tekken 7. Dark Souls II could be coming to the Xbox One and PS4. Homefront: The Revolution loses its game design director. The Heavenly Sword CGI movie is due for release this fall. And Raiden has been revealed for Mortal Kombat X.
GTA 5 PC Release Date Revealed?
The PC version of GTA V may have had its release date revealed. Nintendo unveils a handful of new characters for Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U in a new trailer. Some awesome new games will be arriving this week on PlayStation consoles. Gaming Blend's Ryan Winslett throws up a review of Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark. Bandai Namco finally explained the Wii U delay for Project CARS and Elite: Dangerous could be released on the PS4 and Xbox One.

If you were hoping for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare to turn out like Black Ops, think again. There won't be any branching storylines in Advanced Warfare. Nintendo has some goodies for loyal Nintendo Elite members. Crackdown is aiming to have seamless co-op without any menus or loading bars getting in the way. GTA V received 10 new verified jobs. The Xbox One is getting Pinball FX2, and the Wii U might get a Super Smash Bros. bundle.
Doom Makes A Return
Doom is coming back and it's not Doom 4. It's a fresh start with a sexy new design that no one but QuakeCon members got to see. An ex-dictator decided to sue Activision over Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Atlus released a new side-scroller called Abyss Odyssey that Ryan takes a lukewarm liking to. Dead Trigger 2 gets a new update for a tournament mode and Microsoft shuts down the Xbox entertainment studios outlet.
New Assassin's Creed Inbound
A new Assassin's Creed game is inbound, but it's not what you think. World of Warcraft is still king of the crop when it comes to subscription-based MMOs. Square Enix has stepped in and shutdown Final Fantasy Type-0's fan translation for the PSP. The Crew developers explain how they managed to hit 1080p on the Xbox One. Microsoft has plans to bring in more Japanese indie games.
