To use Netflix's streaming service on your PS3 or Wii, you traditionally needed a special disc in the console. As of today, that's no longer the case.
Both the PS3 and Wii can now access Netflix through their console's start menu without using a disc. You simply have to download an app. As always, you'll need a Netflix subscription ($8.99 minimum in the US, $7.99 minimum in Canada) and a broadband connection.
On a related note, PS3 owners can now watch their movies in 1080p HD with Dolby 5.1 channel surround sound. The PS3 is the first console to support 5.1 surround sound via Netflix.
