After months of running through the streets of New York in his pink hoody, Little Mac's ready for the big fight. To translate the bizarre in-joke: Nintendo has just set the release day for the Wii remake of Punch-Out!!.
The arcade boxing game will arrive in stores on May 18th according to an announce this morning from Nintendo (thanks, Joystiq). This new incarnation of Punch-Out!! once again stars Little Mac, a miniature boxer trying to defeat a whole range of ethnic stereotypes. Or is it a normal-sized boxer who's fighting enormous ethnic stereotype? A question best left to Philosophy majors.
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, the first in the series, was released in 1987 for the NES. Classic foes like Glass Joe, Von Kaiser, and King Hippo are all said to be returning for this version. The Wii Punch-Out!! will, of course, feature motion control.
