Unlike the failed console port of The Witcher, the Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings will actually hit stores. Today Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and CD Projekt RED announced the release date for the series' 360 debut.
In Witcher 2, players step into the shoes of professional monster hunter Geralt. Geralt finds himself in the middle of a civil war in the Kingdom of Temeria. Geralt must get to the bottom of the shadowy conspiracy playing out in the background.
The 360 edition of Witcher 2 is called the "Enhanced Edition." The Enhanced Edition is said to offer over three hours of new content. Presumably it includes the new features added to the PC version via post-launch patches, such as the Arena mode and Dark difficulty level.
CD Projekt has expressed interest in creating a PS3 edition of the game as well. However, they wanted to put all of their resources into first getting the game on the Xbox 360.
"We do not like to engage 50/50. With everything we go with full speed, always. The other thing is switching from PC to Xbox 360 was quite straightforward. We already have people that have done 360 games on board," said senior producer Tomasz Gop in June. "Right now we're on the look out for a good PS3 developer, so it might happen."
The Xbox 360 version of Witcher 2 will arrive in North America on April 17th. Box art and screenshots are below.
