Left Shark, the unexpected star of this year's Super Bowl, will be immortalized in World of Warcraft. Blizzard plans to add him to the game in Patch 6.2.
In case you missed the Super Bowl, the Left Shark was part of Katy Perry's half-time performance during the Super Bowl. Perry was flanked by two dancers in shark costumes during one segment. The one on the left sucked slightly more than the one on the right:
Left Shark's somewhat poor performance led to an avalanche of Left Shark jokes on Reddit, Twitter and everywhere else dumb memes live. I'd say it was the saddest viral sensation of 2015 thus far but that honor probably goes to that dress that reminded people how light works.
Anyway, within World of Warcraft, Left Shark will be an aquatic battle pet. In honor of the performer that inspired it, this pet will have a couple dance moves at their disposal. The first, Dazzling Dance, increases their team's speed. Rain Dance heals Left Shark and boosts his team's critical strike and hit chance.
"Who would leave such a cute shark behind? The Iron Horde truly has no soul," reads the flavor text for pet (via Wowhead).
It's unclear how exactly players will be able to get the pet. It's possible that we'll find it in Tanaan Jungle, though. This level 100 zone, accessible once the patch goes live, is said to have a number of demonic Legendary pets for players to challenge. You can beat these Legendaries once per day for a bag of Fel-Touched Pet Supplies, which have a chance to contain a rare battle pet. Left Shark might be one of the pets you can earn from these bags. Another possibility is that players can buy Left Shark from one of the new trappers that will visit their garrison's Pet Menagerie.
Patch 6.2 will also add the Hellfire Citadel raid, a Mythic difficulty for dungeons, and naval missions for garrisons. The final step of Khadgar's legendary quest line will be unlocked so everyone can get the Legendary rings they've been coveting. Players will also be able to revisit The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King dungeons for new rewards. The patch is currently available on the Public Testing Realm.
