XCOM: Enemy Unknown Elite Edition Invading Mac This Spring
The alien invasion is set to continue as XCOM: Enemy Unknown prepares to deploy on Mac later this spring. Get locked and loaded Mac users, ‘cause you’re about to have your work cut out for you.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown builds on the foundation established by 1994’s X-Com: UFO Defense, keeping the heavy strategy and semi-lighthearted nature intact while plugging in a heaping helping of shiny new graphics, streamlined mechanics, new features and loads of white-knuckle action. Released to PC and consoles last year, publisher Feral Interactive will be publishing Fireaxis Games’ critical darling on Mac sometime this spring.
In Enemy Unknown, the player takes on the role of commander for a top secret global military organization whose sole purpose is to fight back against alien invaders. It’s basically what you would get if the MIB made sweet, sweet love to a group of soldiers from the Call of Duty series. I’m going to go ahead and give you a few moments to make sure that image sinks in…
So while you’re barking out orders to your various troops, you’ll also be exploring the game’s expansive story, earning all kinds of nifty new weapons and gear to deck out your soldiers with, managing resources and coming up with strategies on the fly.
The Mac version of the game will be the Elite Edition, which includes all previously released add-on content such as the Slingshot and Elite Soldier Packs, as well as the Second Wave update.
A price point has not been announced yet, but at least we have this spiffy new video to keep us company until the game finally hits Mac sometime this spring.
